Major Goals of Training Program
The major aim of this recently accredited program is to train excellent Allergists/Immunologists. This is accomplished by providing extensive exposure to patients with a wide variety of allergic and immunologic conditions both in institutional and private practice settings. In addition, all trainees are expected to participate in a research project, either clinical or basic science, under the direct guidance of one of nine faculty. Weekly conferences and journal clubs augment the already rich clinical and research experience that this program offers. Rotations in rheumatology, dermatology and private practice are provided as well as additional electives that the trainee may choose. This program provides experience in both pediatric and adult allergy and is designed to fully comply with RRC requirements for postgraduate education.

Major Goals of Training Program
This is a single, totally integrated Internal Medicine-Pediatric program which provides unusually well balanced, comprehensive exposure to asthma and allergic & immunologic disorders in both adults and children. In addition to adult and pediatric allergy and immunology clinics and inpatient consultation services, the program includes exposure to our Venom Referral Center, Nasal and Paranasal Physiology Laboratory, Adult Asthma and Allergy Challenge Center, Comprehensive Sinus Clinic in association with the Department of Otolaryngology, Pediatric Immunodeficiency Center and Bone Marrow Transplantation Service, and a Pediatric Food Allergy Challenge Clinic. Fellows participate in clinical and translational research activities such as the pathogenesis of allergy aspergillosis, relationship of sinusitis to asthma, regulation of IgE production and mechanisms of drug allergy, and health outcomes studies. Our goal is to give the trainee a broad clinical exposure to the whole spectrum of allergic and immunologic disorders with significant research opportunities. Major Goals of Training Program
Washington University School of Medicine offers a combined program in Allergy and Immunology with Internal Medicine and Pediatric tracks. Our program combines a strong experience in basic immunological investigation as well as translational and clinical investigation with broad-based clinical training. The research training encompasses a broad range of areas emphasizing molecular, biological, and biochemical approaches to normal immune function and immunologically mediated diseases. Special areas of interest include: the role of dendritic cells in allergic inflammation, analysis of genetic mutations or polymorphisms associated with immunodeficiency, analysis of gene expression in lung epithelial development, immunopathologic investigations of asthma and sinusitis, analysis of the role of dietary antigens in colic and diabetes, the immunobiology of allergic proteins, lymphocyte trafficking in inflammatory diseases, asthma treatment (CAMP program), fungal allergy, and studies of inner city asthma.
