Given the amount of time children are away from home and the incidence of allergies and asthma, it is important that school personnel are educated about allergic disease. The most important aspect of the management of patients with life-threatening allergies is avoidance. In the event of contact with the offending allergen, epinephrine (adrenaline), administered by means of subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, is the treatment of choice for anaphylaxis.3,4
